Actors all around the world are appreciated for their hard work and talent, but we as viewers hardly ever get a chance to know what goes on inside the shooting sets. Well, there is laughter, hard work, retakes, ad-libs, and stunts that are performed mostly by stunt doubles. However, there are many scenes in which actors choose to perform the action scenes themselves, and many times they unknowingly risk their lives for it (yes, you read that right!). 1. Kamal Hassan in Indian 2

Kamal Haasan is the most versatile actor in the Indian cinema industry— be it the South Indian cinema, or Bollywood— he has left a mark everywhere he acted. In the sequel of the hit film ‘Indian’ Kamal Haasan gave another phenomenal performance and the film became an instant hit. But, not many know that his life was at risk while shooting an elaborate action scene. A camera crane crashed and Kamal Haasan ran and saved himself just in time. Sadly, three action directors lost their lives and couldn’t escape in time.

2. Shah Rukh Khan in Koyla

From shooting some fatal train scenes to having the fire light up his whole body, SRK did a lot many things that risked his life in this movie. While he was lucky to be safe in most scenes— one scene did injure him pretty badly. He hurt his leg, especially his knee during shooting the scene ‘Ghungte Mein Chandna’. Later on, he was suggested surgery, but he chose physiotherapy and went through a lot of pain during his recovery period.

3. Ranveer Singh in Bajirao Mastani

Ranveer Singh chose to perform many of his fighting scenes in the movie Bajirao Mastani which also starred his now-wife and actress Deepika Padukone. There was a scene in which he was riding a horse, he accidentally fell from the horse and dislocated his shoulder. He had to be hospitalized for many days and was suggested total bed rest. Later on, after recovery, he got back in shape and completed the shooting. Seems like a total professional!

4. Hrithik Roshan in Krrish 3

Hrithik Roshan is known for his dedication to his profession. In one of the stunt scenes in his film ‘Krrish 3’, he performed a high-flying scene and injured his head severely. Later on, he had to go through a brain surgery. Be it dance movies, or stunt scenes— Hrtihik always performs all his scenes on his own. And, we can’t deny that his hard work really pays off as the audiences loved our superhero Krrish in this third film of the Krrish franchise.

5. Mammootty in Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha

This movie was released 20 years ago, and it is shocking to know that Mammootty has still not gotten the surgery done for his leg injury that happened almost two decades back. His leg got injured while filming a sword fight scene and due to the fear of having a leg length difference after the surgery— Mammootty decided to endure the pain instead of getting surgery.

6. Suriya in Kanguva

This was recent news and all Suriya fans wished him a quick recovery after the news came out. While shooting for one of the scenes for the movie Kanguva, a camera fell on one of his shoulders. His shoulder was severely injured and it took him many days to recover from it. Sometimes, we don’t think that a minor throbbing pain will just pass away— but it might be an internal injury. Thankfully, Suriya is fine now and his fans are delighted!

7. Amir Khan in Ghulam

Amir Khan is a method actor who is also known as ‘Mr. Perfectionist’ because he immerses himself in the characters that he plays. Going by the same rule, Amir decided to run in front of a moving train in a scene where he was having a cat-and-mouse chase with the goons. In a turn of events, he escaped getting hit by the fast-moving train by just a mere 1.2 seconds! He later regretted his decision and said in an interview that he should not have decided to perform such a risky scene.

8. John Abraham in Shootout At Wadala

In one of the shooting scenes in the action thriller film ‘Shootout At Wadala’, Anil Kapoor mistakenly shot a prop gun too close to John Abraham’s neck. It was his lucky day as the bullet only grazed past his neck and though he got injured— he wasn’t severely injured. That day, he could have really died. Because the prop guns are also fired with force and if fired from a close distance— they could be equally lethal and cause serious injuries.

9. Amitabh Bachchan in Coolie

We all know this— especially, those who watched the news live— it was gut-wrenching. Amitabh Bachchan, while shooting a fighting scene in the film ‘Coolie’, got hit by a wooden table in his stomach. Intially, he was fine, but later on, he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. He had suffered some serious internal injuries and while he was getting treated— he was declared dead for a few minutes. The whole nation played for his recovery and he received a lot of love upon his return. The movie also became a massive hit.

10. Fahadh Faasil in Malayankunju

Malayankunju was a survival thriller in which Fahadh’s character was stuck inside a cave with no rescue options. To make the scene real, he went inside a similar kind of cave and tried getting out. While filming this scene, he got some serious facial injuries and blood loss. After he came out, he was rushed to a hospital and the shooting was halted for some time. Only after he recovered fully, the shooting was resumed and the movie got a lot of appreciation.
