10 Bollywood Movies That Got Cancelled And Never Reached You!
Bollywood makes hundreds of movies every year, some reach theatres, some land on OTT, and some just disappear midway. Making a movie isn’t easy. There are budget issues, casting problems, and sometimes things just don’t go as planned. Because of that, many films never get to see the light of day, even after a lot of effort. Here are 10 Bollywood movies that were announced, even started shooting, but got cancelled before release. And honestly, after hearing about some of them, you’ll wish they had actually been completed.

1. Shuddhi
It was an ambitious project that initially starred Kareena Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan in the lead roles. However, the movie kept getting delayed, and later Salman Khan was approached — that didn’t work out either. The next attempt had Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan as leads, with Sanjay Dutt as the villain. But once again, all of them walked out. Hopefully, someday this movie gets a chance to be completed so we can finally watch it!
2. Munna Bhai Chale America
The Munna Bhai franchise is one of Bollywood’s most loved series. So when its third installment, Munna Bhai Chale America, was announced, fans were eagerly waiting. But as time passed, there was no sign of either production or release, and the project was eventually shelved.
3. Koochie Koochie Hota Hai
Co-produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Tarun Mansukhani, this animated movie was meant to release in 2011. Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji lent their voices to the lead characters. The film was an animated adaptation of Karan Johar’s classic Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Despite the trailer release, various production and release issues stopped it from ever reaching the audience.
4. Time Machine
A 1992 Bollywood sci-fi film directed by Shekhar Kapur, Time Machine was inspired by the 80s classic Back to the Future. It featured an ensemble cast including Naseeruddin Shah, Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon, Vijay Anand, and Gulshan Grover. More than half of the movie was shot before filming stopped due to lack of funds. Despite several attempts to revive it, the project remains incomplete to this day.

5. Shoebite
Produced by UTV Motion Pictures and directed by Shoojit Sircar, Shoebite was almost completed before being shelved. The movie revolved around an elderly man named John Pereira who embarks on a journey of self-discovery.

6. Dus 1997
This film starred Salman Khan, Vinod Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, and Raveena Tandon in key roles. Unfortunately, director Mukul Anand passed away mid-shoot, and the film had to be shelved. Interestingly, the movie’s trailer and songs are still available online and remain quite popular.
7. Chor Mandali
The 1980s were a time when media coverage was limited, cameras weren’t high-resolution, and social media didn’t exist — so many films that stopped mid-production went unnoticed. One such film, Chor Mandali (1983), featured Raj Kapoor and other legendary actors of the era in leading roles but never made it to theatres.

8. Talisman
A fantasy film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Talisman was said to be inspired by The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Its trailer was even released in theatres alongside Eklavya: The Royal Guard. The project, produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, was expected to change the tone of Bollywood cinema. However, multiple production hurdles caused major delays, ultimately leading to its cancellation.
9. Power
Power was announced with great fanfare — posters were unveiled, and a press conference was held. The film was to be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and featured an impressive cast including Anil Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and Ajay Devgn. Despite all the buzz, the movie never took off and was quietly shelved.
10. Chandni Chowk To Africa
After the success of Ghajini, the makers planned another action-comedy, a sequel to Chandni Chowk To China, titled Chandni Chowk To Africa. Starring Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone, the first movie failed miserably despite all the hype. As a result, the sequel was dropped altogether.
